Introduction
If you are planning to renovate your home, start a new construction project, or even redesign your bathroom, one of the biggest cost factors to consider is the GST (Goods and Services Tax). The government regularly revises GST slabs, and in 2025, the updated GST rates for tiles and sanitarywares have an important impact on overall budgets. Based on recent updates from the 56th GST Council meeting, a significant GST “2.0” reform has been announced, effective September 22, 2025. This reform simplifies the tax structure by largely moving to a two-tier system of 5% and 18%.
At The Tile Boutique, we believe in helping our customers stay informed, so here’s a complete guide to the 2025 GST Rate for Tiles and Sanitarywares, along with tips on managing costs effectively.
Understanding GST and Its Impact on Tiles & Sanitarywares
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced to simplify India’s indirect tax system. Before GST, different taxes like VAT, excise duty, and service tax applied, creating confusion for buyers and suppliers. Today, GST offers a single unified tax, making the buying process more transparent.
For tiles and sanitarywares, GST rates play a crucial role in final pricing. Whether you are a homeowner buying a few boxes of tiles or a builder sourcing for a large-scale project, knowing the GST Rates for Tiles ensures proper planning and budgeting.
2025 GST Rate for Tiles
Tiles are one of the most widely used materials in home interiors and commercial spaces. In 2025, the GST Rate for Tiles remains a deciding factor in both retail and wholesale pricing. The GST Price for Tiles is calculated by adding the GST percentage to the base cost of the product.
- Ceramic Tiles – Standard GST rate applies.
- Vitrified Tiles – Higher-end, durable tiles usually attract the same GST slab as ceramic tiles.
- Porcelain & Mosaic Tiles – Often imported, these may have a slightly different pricing impact due to customs duty plus GST.
GST Rate for Floor Tiles in 2025
Floor tiles, whether ceramic or vitrified, typically fall under the standard GST slab. This directly influences large-scale purchases, as homes and commercial projects need higher quantities.
GST Rate for Wall Tiles in 2025
Wall tiles are generally priced differently from floor tiles, but the GST Rate for Wall Tiles remains under the same slab. This ensures consistency across categories.
GST Rate for Imported & Premium Tiles
Imported tiles attract customs duty in addition to GST. So while the GST Rate for Tiles remains the same, the final price may be higher for luxury or imported collections.
2025 GST Rates for Sanitarywares
Sanitaryware products such as washbasins, commodes, faucets, and bathroom fittings are also taxed under GST. For 2025, the slab has remained steady, ensuring predictability for homeowners and builders.
GST on Basic Sanitaryware Products
Everyday bathroom fittings like standard basins, taps, and commodes come under the same GST slab, making them affordable for mass-market use.
GST on Luxury & Imported Sanitarywares
For premium sanitaryware brands, the GST is the same percentage, but final pricing increases due to higher base costs and possible import duties.
Comparing Pre-2025 vs. 2025 GST Rates
One of the common questions customers ask at The Tile Boutique is whether GST rates have changed significantly in 2025. While the slabs have largely remained consistent, the real difference lies in supply chain costs and import duties.
For example:
- In 2024, the GST Rate for Tiles was the same as 2025, but raw material and logistics cost increases may impact the final consumer price.
- Builders and homeowners should check if dealers are passing on genuine GST-inclusive prices.

The GST Price for Tiles plays a major role in construction budgeting:
- For Builders: Large housing projects require bulk tile purchases. Even a small percentage change in GST impacts the total project cost.
